Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work with you if I don’t live near you?
While some of my services do require that we come to your house, i.e., printed photo organizing, there are plenty of services that are conducive to a virtual relationship. All of my photo products including books, slideshows, calendars, etc., can be completed without ever meeting face-to-face. We have a private FTP site for uploading and sharing photo files. During client reviews, we provide a code to view a virtual copy of the product on your computer, iPad or Android device while we talk on the phone. We also provide scanning services for remote clients by using good old snail mail (UPS/FedEx is highly recommended.)
What’s the best way to send you my pictures?
There are several ways to submit your photos:
Are you a professional photographer? And what exactly is a photo organizer?
Although I take thousands of pictures with my DSLR, I am not a professional photographer. The role of a photo organizer, most importantly, is to help tell your stories. We also work hard to relieve the stress and anxiety caused by having photos stored improperly in closets and various memory cards and the overwhelming feeling of not knowing what to do with them. You understand the importance of taking pictures to document your family’s legacy, but you don’t know what to do with them. A photo organizer starts by organizing your photos, then makes sure they’re protected via cloud storage or external hard drives. We then bring your photos out of the darkness and back to life via a multitude of photo products.
Why should I hire a photo organizer to help me?
Why not? No, but seriously, we all have a deep connection to our photos, but very few of us know what to do with them. We have boxes and boxes of old family photos that we probably haven’t seen in decades, not to mention the thousands of digital photos and videos stored on your phones, PDAs and computers. A natural disaster strikes or a computer crashes and poof! They’re gone! Then, and only then, do we realize the priceless value those photos bring to us. You’ll have a new appreciation for how important it is to properly archive not only your printed photos but your digital files as well. With so many other pressing financial needs, photos seem, at first glance, to land at the bottom of the list, but if you experience a catastrophic loss, you’ll realize that properly protecting your photos should have been higher on your list. A photo organizer can get you started on your journey to preserve your memories, bring historic photos back to life and provide ways you can start enjoying all those digital files you are currently taking. There’s no time like the present to get started on a photo organizing project!
What does a standard photo organizing package look like?
Typically, we start all service-related packages with an in-depth client needs assessment. This takes anywhere from 1-2 hours where we ask a series of questions to help us get to know you, your family and your photo organizing needs. Once the assessment is complete, we customize a package based on your specific wants/needs and budget. You can hire us for as little as two hours to help you set up an organizing system and then complete yourself, or you can hire us in larger time increments (discounts apply) to work with you through the entire process.
What is the typical time frame for completing photo products?
This can vary and depends on the type of product we are completing. Obviously, photo books take longer than a photo magnet or framed print. As a rough guide, completion of a 20-page photo book would take 3-4 weeks. That includes the initial consultation, book design, client review/captioning, additional edits, final client review, ordering, shipping, quality control and final delivery. However, rush products are also welcome.
Do you offer various photo finishes and album covers?
Yes! I work with several high-end photo book publishers who have many variations in their product lines. Final products can range from a simple soft cover photo book to a high-end leather-covered book with layflat pages and high gloss finish. The choice is up to you!

What’s the best way to send you my pictures?
There are several ways to submit your photos:
- If you’re local to the DC Metro area, we can come to your house and copy them to an external hard drive.
- If you’re not local or just prefer to submit online, we have a private FTP site that allows you to securely upload your images via the internet.
- And then there are some projects that only require a few photos. In that case, you can e-mail them to megan@picturethisps.com.

- Imagine sitting down with a treasured grandparent, looking through their decades-old photos and documenting their stories in connection to those photos. Oftentimes, we desperately start digging through old photos when a loved one passes, and while we may find comfort in looking at their pictures, the background story is lost. What a celebration of life to capture their stories while they’re still here to share them and how honored they’d be to receive such a special gift!
- Imagine your parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and how much they would appreciate a photo book that documents their long life together. To complete the package, a touching slideshow of their photos and videos could play at their party.
- Imagine celebrating each year of your child’s life with a special photo book all about them, that highlights all their experiences and accomplishments of the prior year. Books of this nature can do wonders to boost a child’s self esteem.
- Do you have a cherished family pet? How about dedicating a photo book, slideshow or a wall canvas to them and the happiness they bring your family?
